Ceramic and glass pad printing
Glass and ceramics are not simple materials for printing. In order to ensure good adhesion and subsequent stability of the ink, a number of important factors must be taken into account:
Thin steel clichés and nylon clichés can be used. We have developed a special type of nylon (photopolymer) nyp 25 C for ceramic printing.
This nyp 25 C has been specially developed for multi-colour pad printing machines. The advantage of this system is that the cliché depth can be controlled for each grid point. Example: at a linearity of 150 pixels per inch, a raster tone of 12% gives a depth of 31 µm and a raster tone of 82% gives a depth of 110 µm.
We have developed a special pad for glass and ceramics, it is purple in colour.
Never use a new pad with solvent or PRU6. The pad can be cleaned with alcohol or sticky tape, but not with solvent.
Printing Process
Special thermoplastic inks must be used for printing. But first they must be melted to a liquid state and brought to a certain temperature. It is the correct temperature of all components that is the key to good ink absorption.
Baking
After printing, you need to put your product into the oven for baking. The temperature and duration depend on the ink and material of the product.
